It's High Time to take action
How can we support you?
At HalsAllan we're passionate about the benefits (both organisational and personal) of flexible working - and this extends to jobs at senior levels too. Both directors have worked at senior levels in high pressure, complex organisations. We understand the challenges and we also have the in-depth expertise - acquired over the last fifteen years - to support you and your organisation in addressing them.
For employers...
A culture audit can enable you to understand the unique challenges your organisation faces. We work with a road map based on the model developed by the Families and Work Institute (New York) and supplemented by original research carried out by Anna Allan. (For more information take a look here.) In discussion with you we'll agree an appropriate approach - for example, questionnaire, focus group or large group process.
We will identify where your organisation is on the journey, and work with you to develop an appropriate action plan for moving things forward. (If you want to do this yourself, take a look here for resources.)
"It's very easy to work with Anna, and she always takes a pragmatic approach which helps us solve practical difficulties." Tracy Walters, Brent Council.
We're also happy to work with you on facilitating culture change. We'll agree a work plan with milestones and timescales and how we might work with your internal resources. We generally prefer to work in an environment where our clients take lead responsibility for making things happen while we provide expertise and support. In this way we can be confident that changes are being embedded into the organisation and will be sustained long after we've left a client's premises.
For employees...
We can offer personal coaching around work-life balance issues. This is particularly welcome where an employee is at a pivotal stage in life, such as becoming a new parent or where a relative suddenly needs more care and support. In addition to identifying appropriate working arrangements and persuasive business arguments to support this, we will also work with the employee on strategies to manage the transition to new arrangements.
"Thanks for your advice. I am pleased to say that we drafted a formal request to my sister's employer, outlining ideas as to how the part-time working request could be accommodaed as you suggested and her employer has now accepted one of the alternatives suggested." Helen Smith via CIPD communities
We also run workshops around various aspects of work-life balance and flexible working, including the challenge of managing others and self-management. Details of our open workshops can be found here; and we are happy to tailor these to specific client needs.
Whether you simply want to be part of the High Time campaign and share ideas with us, or whether you feel we can support you in your efforts, please get in touch to discuss the matter further.
